Pastor Gene Johnson

The desire of the visionary – Pastor Gene Johnson was planted in his heart many years ago.  As he grew stronger in his walk with God, his steps were divinely ordered to accomplish the calling that God had prepared for him.

In the Summer of 1997, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church a small church in La Porte, Texas, was searching for a Shepard to lead its flock.  Having recently being prophesied that he would do so, Elder Gene Johnson, who was on the verge of actualizing his aspiration of preaching the gospel, accepted the role and became Pleasant Hill Baptist Church newly appointed Senior Pastor.  With the anointed word birthed in the young pastor, lives began to transform, and Church memberships quickly grew. The 2800 sq. ft. sanctuary was reconstructed into a magnificent 18000 sq. ft. House of Worship”, under the moniker, “Pleasant Hill Church of Deliverance.”

Pastor Johnson instantly became a respected staple within the local district.  He currently serves on several boards and is president of Breaking Free Foundation.  Garnered with a keen insight to have the “Good News” spread beyond the four walls of the church, he formed; (1) “Pleasant Hill Prison Outreach Ministry (PHPOM)”, a program designed to give imprisoned inmates the unfiltered word of God, encouragement, and hope while being incarcerated, at the Texas Department of Corrections facilities, (1) the PH Homeless Outreach ministry, (2) “Higher Achievers Learning Center” and “High Achievers Enrichment Center”, (3) Women’s Out Reach Programs, which aids domestic abused homeless, and drug addicted victims.  Pastor Johnson has had an instrumental voice in the City of La Porte bringing a rapid change to the city. He is always seeking opportunities to bring improvement to the community both, spiritually and naturally.

Pastor Johnson has expanded the Pleasant Hill Church of Deliverance Ministry to the City of Houston, Texas, where the Divine Connection (DC) of Katy Church has quickly developed into an astonishing facet of praise and worship.

Pastor Gene Johnson has been married to Lady Gail Johnson for 35 years.  Their union has exemplified the true meaning of how marriage should be to numerous couples.  They are blessed with a son, Terance and a daughter, Nicole. Pastor Johnson and the first Lady Gail have five amazing and beautiful grandchildren.

Lady Gail Johnson

Lady Gail Johnson serves alongside her husband, Pastor Gene Johnson at Pleasant Hill Church of Deliverance, in La Porte, Texas, where they have faithfully served for the past 21 years.

Lady Gail understands her calling is to take the gospel to the world.  She abides by the word of God in Mark 16:15 and 17 “to go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature, and these signs shall follow them that believe.”

Lady Gail has found that you cannot be compassionate unless you can identify with the troubles of people that you encounter on a day to day basis.  Until you have experienced trouble in various ways, you will not be able to relate to the need of hurting people. So, out of her spirit was birthed the (1) Breaking Free Foundation, established at Pleasant Hill Church of Deliverance.  Under the umbrella of the Breaking Free Foundation is the The Rapha Counseling Center, a faith-based counseling and deliverance ministry, where families and individuals receive support that ministers wholeness to the total man, and The “Fight Like A Girl” Women’s Annual Conference.  In 2010 Pastor Gene and Lady Gail Johnson became owners of High Achievers Learning Center, and in 2013, High Achievers Enrichment Center, both located in La Porte, Texas. She is also the Co-Founder of New Wine Talk Show in Houston, Texas.

Lady Gail’s favorite scripture is “For the Lord your God has arrived to live among you.  He is the mighty Savior. He will give you victory. He will rejoice over you in great gladness.  He will love you and not accuse you. Is that a joyous choir I hear? No, it is the Lord Himself exalting over you in a happy song.”  (Zephaniah 3:17-19)
